Social Media and Privacy

The article relating to this topic titled, "When Rape Goes Viral" is a very interesting article. I talks about how social media may be helping catch the attackers but at the same time it is ruining peoples lives. These videos and pictures being posted on social media are very disturbing and it is even more disturbing the way people respond to them. The way the information is shared is just a click away and it can be shared to the entire world. The people who are re-posting and sharing the videos and pictures are just making them even more public and the chances of the attackers to be caught is increased. This also increases the amount of people viewing the videos and can be harmful to the victims. They do not have a say in whether or not the videos or pictures are posted and who sees them and that can have a huge affect on the victims. As we see in the article many people take their own lives because they are so affected by people who have seen these videos. So there are two sides, one where the criminals can be caught due to social media, and the side where the victims are exposed and their privacy gone.
